Burlington BMX was founded and started racing in 1983 and 1984 in the Carolina Warehouse on Church Street. The track was laid out on a concrete floor with wooden jumps built by Frank Hoggard. At the time they raced NBL sanctioned races in the morning and ABA sanctioned races in the afternoon.
Frank Hoggard was a huge proponent of BMX in Burlington and a strong voice in having the city build a permanent facility to race.
In 1985, Bob Tedesco of the NBL built the current track. Burlington BMX was NBL sanctioned until the late 90s. When It became sanctioned by the ABA.
The first National held at Burlington BMX was the 1986 Tar Heel National. Under the NBL sanction Burlington hosted multiple Nationals and in 1993 hosted the Frank Hoggard Memorial National. Burlington BMX and the NBL named that particular National to honor Frank who had recently passed. His family was recognized and presented a plaque at the National.
Burlington BMX is backed with over 25 years of industry experience and is now sanctioned under USA BMX, which establishes the rules of racing that provides fair competition and family fun entertainment for all of its members.
Burlington BMX Parents Association is staffed by volunteer parents and riders.

Practice/ Racing Saturday, Registration from 1:00-2:30 for a fee of $10. Awards will be trophies or saver stamps.

Getting started in BMX is easy and USA BMX memberships are available at the track.
(1) One Day Trial Membership
This "trail" membership which allows the rider to try BMX for the day.
(2) Full Yearly Membership
As a full member, the USA BMX racer receives a complete membership kit, including a number with complete racing rules and assorted stickers. Also the USA BMX membership keeps every rider up-to-date on all events, races, current district points, ranking and member benefits, which includes secondary medical insurance for the rider at the tracks.
