As the time draws near for the second USA BMX SUMMIT, (held February 21-23 at the South Point Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas), the schedule is coming together nicely. USA BMX is pleased to announce that U.S. Gold Medalist GABE GARDNER will be our closing speaker; to wrap-up the three days of sessions covering inspirational, educational information on the sport of BMX racing. As of right now, there are more than 300 track operators and BMX volunteers, from all over the country, scheduled to attend this years' Summit.

Olympic Gold medalist GABE GARDNER was born in San Diego, California, grew up in San Clemente, and now calls Sacramento his home. Gabe attended San Clemente High School and was also the goal keeper on the water polo team as well as a star basketball player. Gabe was named the Orange County Athlete of the Year in 1995, and graduated with a Human Biology degree from Stanford University.

While at Stanford, Gabe, and now-wife Julie, used to double-date with Google founder Sergey Brin and his then-girlfriend, who were also attending Stanford at the time. Brin was in the process of starting Google and once asked Gabe about working for the Web search engine, but Gabe chose, instead, to stick with his own passion - volleyball.

Gabe has been an Overseas Pro League Champion three times, (Argentina 2003 and Turkey 2005 and 2010), and has played for International teams all around the globe. The inspirational story of his journey, on the way to success as a Gold medal USA athlete in 2008, is sure to be a great closer for the USA BMX 2012 Summit.
