Inductee Doug Davis raced BMX from 1976 to 1989. During that time he would win the 1983 National Number One Amateur title and later turned pro in 1988. In the 1980s, Davis dominated his age class beating out riders such as Mike King, Chris Torres, Craig Bark, Peter Casano, Steve Veltman, Darwin Griffin, Billy Griggs, Brian Gass, Kyle Fleming, Gary Renteria and a host of other top amateurs. Racing more than 25 nationals a year from 1981 to 1987, Davis won the majority of those races - often doubling and tripling throughout his amateur career. Davis was the 1980 Jag BMX World Champion in 11 Expert, a member of BMX Action’s “Terrible Ten II” in 1987 and was also featured in BMX Plus! and ABA Action magazines.
