This Freestyle inductee was the youngest of seven siblings. While all of them had bicycles, none of the Robinson’s would’ve expected that Kevin would take his two wheel addiction to such unbelievable heights. Born and raised in Rhode Island, K-Rob - as he was best known as, would eventually become recognized as one of the best BMX riders of his era, and was integral in creating what is now known as the MEGA Ramp discipline.

When K-Rob first fell in love with freestyle riding in 1983, it became his obsession. Building a halfpipe in his parent’s backyard, he first made a name for himself as a Amateur shredder, performing at shows and contests, which eventually earned him a spot on Hoffman bikes - a sponsorship that also came with a life-long friendship with his mentor, The Condor himself - Mat Hoffman.

When ESPN announced that the very first X-Games would be held in his OWN backyard - Providence, Rhode Island, K-Rob quickly became the Hometown crowd’s favorite rider to root for.
From that very first X-Games in June of 1995 until his final retirement performance in 2010, Kevin amassed FOUR X-Games Gold medals and six bronze - many of those wins for Best Trick and Big Air.

During his 23-year career, K-Rob stood on the podium a total of 100 times, at Vert and Big Air contests all around the globe.

When it came to Flair and 540 variations, Kevin was Thee Man. To this day, there are three death-defying stunts that he is still known for. Tricks that forever wrote his name in the BMX history books.

Number ONE : … He was the first to successfully land a Double Flair in competition, pulled off in front of millions of viewers around the World, at the 2006 X Games.

Number TWO : … In 2008, he set the Guinness World record for the highest air on a BMX bike  - recorded at 27 feet on the monstrous 27-foot tall quarter-pipe.

Number THREE : … K-Rob came out of retirement in 2016, at the age of 43, to set one last Guinness Book of World Records - filmed in front of a live crowd, including his wife and kids, for ABC's "World of X Games” special. Once he got towed up to speed, Robinson launched and rotated in seemingly slow-motion as he cleared a record-making distance of 84 feet!

The accolades from his fans and competitors were many. K-Rob was awarded Most Outstanding Athlete of the 2007 X Games and was an ESPY Award nominee the following year. He was even up for a CMT Award for “Best Cameo in a Country Video.”  In 2011, since he was no longer competing at X-Games, ESPN hired K-Rob as their blue-eyed commentator for the next five years.

Life after retirement didn’t slow down much for Kevin, as he founded the K-Rob Foundation and became a Board member of the Junior Seau Foundation and the National Academy of Neuropsychology. He even became a motivational speaker for the Navy Seals, giving inspirational talks at corporate and school assemblies.

Being a life-long Woodward local, he created a BMX and Skate competition for Woodward Campers, called the “K-Rob Vert Challenge.” And in between all that, and raising a family of three kids, Kevin even started up his own protective apparel company, called Grindz, in 2011.

After inventing or pulling off every Flair trick known to mankind, Kevin shocked the BMX world one last time on December 9 of 2017, when he passed away - waaaaaaay too soon, at the young age of 45. Leaving behind an illustrious BMX legacy that will looooong be remembered.
