Two bronzes for USA at BMX Worlds on Sunday

Medellin, Colombia (May 29, 2016) –After a pair of fourth-place finishes in the Time Trial Super Final on Saturday, Alise Post (St. Cloud, Minn./Redline USA) and Nic Long (Lakeside, Calif./Haro Bikes/Dans Comp) raced to bronze medals in the Supercross Final at the UCI BMX Supercross World Championships on Sunday.

After fellow American Felicia Stancil (Lake Villa, Ill./GT Bicycles) was eliminated in the semifinals, Post was the lone USA rider in the women’s main. Mariana Pajon (COL) won the world title on her home track with Caroline Buchanan coming in second and a hard-charging Post in third about a second ahead of fourth-place finisher Manon Valentino (FRA).

Like Post, Nic Long (Lakeside, Calif./Haro Bikes/Dans Comp) was the only rider donning the red, white and blue in the final round. Corben Sharrah (Tucson, Ariz./Daylight Cycle CO)  made it as far as the semifinals. In the main event, Joris Daudet (FRA) claimed the gold medal in a head-to-head finish with silver medalist Niek Kimmann (NED). Long crossed the finish less than two seconds later for the final spot on the podium.

The weekend also resulted in a pair of fourth-place finishes for Post and Long in the Time Trial Super Final. In addition, American amateur racers earned 19 medals in the World Challenge which took place earlier in the week.
