U.S. Olympic Trials decides 2nd Man to Team USA

We like to refer to them as "The Great 8" - eight of the quickest American cats in BMX racing, who all had an equal shot at nabbing the second spot on #TeamUSA. Would it be Team favorite Corben Sharrah? Or could Upshaw, Herman, Garcia, Sebesta, Nobles, Posey or Tommy Zula punch their ticket to Rio by winning the final?

“I always dreamed of this day, and last week it was so hard dreaming of this over and over again, thinking of myself crossing the line first,” Sharrah said. “For it to unfold and actually happen, it just hit me. It feels good. All the hard work is paying off.”

Sharrah won all three of his motos heading into the Main Event, where he topped the final field in 37.38 seconds.Barry Nobles (Sun City, Calif./DK Bicycles) and David Herman (Wheat Ridge, Colo.) rounded out the top three.

Jeffery Upshaw (Dayton, Ohio/Kuwahara USA) finished fourth, Tanner Sebesta (Austin, Texas/Stay Strong) crossed fifth and Justin Posey (Winston-Salem, N.C./Dan’s Comp) took sixth. Jared Garcia (Victorville, Calif./Box-Thrill) and Tommy Zula (New Carlisle, Ohio/DK Bicycles) did not advance past the semifinal heats.

“You’re not done until you get that (Olympic) medal around your neck, and that’s the main goal,” said Sharrah. “I’d love to get that medal—get to Rio and do really well. Getting this race over with, getting this mentally out of the way and being able to put the head down and really hammer it for Rio it’s going to be really awesome.”
