Hub City Nationals race report

Back in the post-Covid bounce back of 2020, the small country town of Aberdeen, South Dakota was awarded their dream of hosting a National - and it was a huge success! Two years later, Aberdeen got their second shot to impress the BMX world...

When you pull into Aberdeen's HubCity BMX venue, you can't help but be impressed. Out by the street is a large sign that reads Dakotah Bank BMX - which was part of a donation with - you guessed it, Dakotah Bank of Aberdeen (who is heavily involved with ALL youth sports in this town).
As you approach the Aberdeen entrance, you'll notice to the right, their incredibe Aberdeen podium. Like stonehenge, one might actually imagine the huge rock formation was made by aliens. (Or maybe that's just me.) Newly added are Sprocket statues which have additional advertising space and were assembled to promote the Hub City Nationals.
As you enter the amazing Aberdeen arches - which welcomes you into the spectating areas and track, you'll find a bike shop, a snack bar, registration/sign-up area and a plush office space where all of the magic happens.
Entering the concrete padded spectator area, you spot rows and rows of local billboards wrapping all over the bleachers. These signs are sold by many of the local riders, and the proceeds go toward their entry fees for the year. This is a concept that every track in the country should look into, to bump up support from local businesses as well as helping out the local racers.
Over by the start hill is the announcer's tower, which proudly lists all of the District No.1 Champions from the past.

The track itself is awesome,

The town of Aberdeen has a population of 29,000. So when you figure all of the thousands of BMX racers and their family members came to town, you can estimate that USA BMX added 5% to the town's population for the weekend; which is pretty amazing.

Hats off to TO Kyle Oswald and his tireless group of volunteers who have one of the most awesome facilities in the country. The Hub City Nationals is nothing short of first class.
