PRESS RELEASE

USA BMX Cornhusker Nationals Returns to Omaha, Welcoming Top BMX Athletes From Across the Country

Omaha BMX hosts the event from July 31-Aug. 2 for a weekend of national-level competition and community celebration.

TULSA, Okla. (July 28, 2026)—From July 31 to Aug. 2, Omaha BMX will welcome riders from across the country for the USA BMX Cornhusker Nationals, where athletes will battle for championship points, national rankings and a chance to compete among the sport’s top competitors. More than just a weekend of racing, the event will celebrate the dedication and community that define BMX, bringing together riders, families and fans for an unforgettable experience on and off the track.

The Cornhusker Nationals mark stop no.22 of the 2026 USA BMX National Series. The three-day BMX competition will be held at Omaha BMX at 11111 W Maple Rd. in Omaha. Races begin at 1 p.m. Friday, 9:30 a.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. Sunday.

"We’re eager to welcome the USA BMX Cornhusker Nationals back to Omaha BMX," said Joey Lee, track operator of Omaha BMX. "It’s been since 2020, and we can’t wait to have riders and families back at our track for another great weekend of racing. Our volunteers and local BMX community have put in countless hours to make improvements, and we’re proud to share what we’ve built with racers from across the country."

A national title is not decided at a single finish line – it is earned through consistency at every race along the way. The Cornhusker Nationals serves as a stop in the broader USA BMX National Series, welcoming riders from across the country as they compete for championship points and position in the national rankings. As athletes line up at the gate, each race will present another opportunity to test their skills and move one step closer to claiming the coveted title of USA BMX national champion.

“We are excited to welcome the USA BMX Nationals back to Omaha after hosting the event in 2020,” said Emily Winckler, interim executive director at Omaha Sports Commission. “The return of this national level event is a testament to Omaha's strong partnership with USA BMX and our community's ability to host world-class sporting events. We look forward to welcoming competitors and their families back to Omaha this summer.”

Omaha offers plenty of ways for visitors to experience the city’s unique Midwest charm, from exploring the cobblestone streets and local shops of the historic Old Market. Families can enjoy the scenic trails and riverfront views at Heartland of America Park or take in Omaha’s dining scene, making it easy to turn a weekend of championship BMX racing into a memorable getaway for the whole family. About USA BMX

Established as the American Bicycle Association in 1977 and headquartered in Tulsa, Oklahoma, ABA is the nation’s largest cycling organization with more than 70,000 members with combined racing and freestyle events at more than 300 sanctioned BMX tracks across the United States and Canada. ABA empowers and elevates the early stages of bicycle development by creating opportunities through facility development, programs, and national events. As a result, ABA has developed a structured blueprint. A cyclist can progress from humble beginnings on a balance bike to becoming a BMX Olympian by establishing these roots.

Through STEAM, scholarships, freestyle amateur events, the national series, the Olympics and new facilities built across the United States, these four pillars under the USA BMX organization will impact young riders and families: USA BMX Foundation, USA BMX Freestyle, USA BMX Racing and ABA Ethos.
