USA BMX Announces New Sanctioned Track Coming to Versailles, KY

Project marks second USA BMX track in Kentucky, signaling continued national expansion and growing community engagement in the sport

TULSA, Okla. (June 10, 2026)—USA BMX has partnered with Bluegrass Berms, Versailles-Woodford County Parks & Recreation, Woodford County Fiscal Court and the City of Versailles, Ky., to bring a brand-new USA BMX and American Bicycle Association-sanctioned track to Woodford County. The project is currently being built from the ground up, with organizers actively gathering community support and securing financial backing as planning efforts continue.

The construction of the new USA BMX facility at Woodford County Park near Falling Springs Recreation Center was approved by the Woodford County Fiscal Court on Tuesday, May 12.

“The Versailles-Woodford County Parks and Recreation Department is thrilled to expand recreational opportunities for Woodford County residents and communities across Central Kentucky,” said Richard Pictor, executive director of Versailles-Woodford Parks & Recreation. “By working together with Bluegrass Berms and USA BMX, we are committed to creating a high-quality facility that will provide enjoyment, competition, and healthy outdoor recreation for all ages.”

Bluegrass Berms, a Woodford County-based 501(c)(3) and composite team within the Kentucky Interscholastic Cycling League and National Interscholastic Cycling Association (NICA), will help co-pilot the development of the new USA BMX facility while leading local awareness and community engagement. Operating across Central Kentucky BMX and Bluegrass Sports Syndicate as a USA Cycling Junior Team, Bluegrass Berms focuses on providing youth with low-risk, quality cycling opportunities that build confidence and lifelong participation in BMX racing. Its work supporting local facilities reflects the culture at the heart of USA BMX, where local tracks become places of belonging and riders of all levels share the same starting gate – and a lifelong passion for cycling often beginning with a single lap around the track.

“BMX is built on shared experience. Kids, parents and lifelong riders all gather in the same place, most riders even starting from the same gate. This facility gives that culture a home, and gives young riders a real place to discover confidence, competition and a lifelong connection to cycling,” said Ben Marsico, board BMX chair of Bluegrass Berms. “Bringing a USA BMX track to Versailles is about creating something the community can truly grow around.”

According to USA BMX’s director of business development, Justin Travis, the Versailles project marks a major step in the continued growth of BMX racing across Kentucky. The new track would expand the sport’s presence beyond the state’s lone sanctioned track in Louisville and help create new opportunities for riders and communities throughout the Southeast. This will help increase the size of events hosted at future State Championship and Regional Qualifying events.

“BMX racing continues to see significant growth nationwide, and access to quality facilities is what fuels that momentum,” said Travis. “When communities invest in a place to ride, that spark turns into something much larger and unified. These tracks serve as community gathering points and proven economic drivers, expanding the reach of state, regional and national events while bringing new visitors and energy into the city.”

About USA BMX

Established as the American Bicycle Association in 1977 and headquartered in Tulsa, Oklahoma, ABA is the nation’s largest cycling organization with more than 70,000 members with combined racing and freestyle events at more than 300 sanctioned BMX tracks across the United States and Canada. ABA empowers and elevates the early stages of bicycle development by creating opportunities through facility development, programs, and national events. As a result, ABA has developed a structured blueprint. A cyclist can progress from humble beginnings on a balance bike to becoming a BMX Olympian by establishing these roots.

Through STEAM, scholarships, freestyle amateur events, the national series, the Olympics and new facilities built across the United States, these four pillars under the USA BMX organization will impact young riders and families: USA BMX Foundation, USA BMX Freestyle, USA BMX Racing and ABA Ethos.
