Maple Leaf Nationals is a Three-Day National and will feature the first ever "O Cup" Awards
The BMX Canada National Series has two stops before the Grand National and all riders can still obtain the five required scores to be eligible for a year-end award. The staff at BMX Canada would like to announce the following reminders as well as changes for 2014.
• BMX Canada will count your 5 best scores and the Canadian Grand National towards your Canadian N.A.G. and National standings
• Saturday of the Canadian Grands (October 11) will count as a national score
• Only scores earned in Canada will count towards a Canadian National Age Group or National standing
• The Maple Leaf Nationals (Milton, Ontario) will be a three-day national with 3 national scores available
• U.S. Riders can earn scores at all BMX Canada events
o Only BMX Canada members are eligible for Canadian N.A.G. and BMX Canada National Awards
o U.S. riders can earn N.A.G. and National points per the 2014 USA BMX rulebook while competing in BMX Canada National events.
In addition to the Maple Leaf Nationals being a 3-day National, BMX Canada has introduced the “O Cup“ for 2014. The “O Cup” will combine the three best scores earned at BMX Nationals in Ontario and will be an award presented in each of the age classes at the conclusion of the race on Sunday, September 21. The format used will be very similar to that of the Eastern and Western Divisional Series of USA BMX.
All riders competing in Ontario are eligible and points will be calculated using your three best scores from a combination of the Limestone Nationals and the Maple Leaf Nationals.
A rider can attend just the Maple Leaf Nationals and obtain three scores; however, if a rider competed in Kingston, those scores can also be utilized with a score form Milton.
“We are excited to create an opportunity for Ontario riders to earn five scores prior to the Grands”, said Brad Hallin of BMX Canada. “The added bonus of the “O Cup” will give riders another goal to strive for in 2014.”
The Maple Leaf Nationals will be held the weekend of September 19 – 21, in Milton, Ontario.
