Whether aboard his Schwinn Stingray in the early days or a Mongoose toward his later era, John George is still talked about by nearly every single Hall of Famer as being one of the fastest and smoothest riders they’d ever seen.
While many riders have been dubbed as “Mr.Smooth” over the past five decades, John was the original.
As one of the first BMX superstars, John George earned the NBA No.1 plate in 1976 - and met his future wife, Brenda Lee, in the pit area of a BMX race. His early retirement from the sport leaves many wondering to this day if he could’ve gone on to Pro superstardom - like all of the guys he used to beat on a regular basis did.
