attended the SCR's at Bellingham and Bakerview BMX this past weekend.  These are such fun events for the family, we all had a great time!  Bellingham has a great facility.  It used to be a golf driving range, which turns out to make a pretty great BMX property.  We were able to park our truck right along the 4th straight away so that the tail gate was open where we could sit and watch the races when we werent' on the track ourselves.  Bakerview's track was small, but very nice and welcoming.  It is part of a city park facility/YMCA.  The night before the race, it rained quite a bit, but the Bakerview crew did a great job getting the track ready to go for racing.  For the 1Trak Mind/Fantastic Four racing team, Jacy took 2nd place both days in 9 Girls, Trent unfortunately DNQ for either of his main events in 12 Intermediate, and RAD DAD (me) took 3rd both days.

Trent recently got a new wheel set that has a 17 rear cog which altered his gear ratio a bit.  You could tell he was pedaling his butt off and just not catching up.  So we are going to switch back to his old wheels with his 15 cog.  Coupling that with his new 42 tooth chain ring up front should improve his gear ratio and make him more competetive.

Jacy just keeps getting faster every week.  Pretty soon she will be up there with the faster girls in her class right now.  She is routinely finishing less than a bike length behind her now, and closing the gap a little more every week.  Go BEANS!

As for me, the gate at Bellingham was a little intimidating for me (steepest gate I have raced on yet), so I didn't push it as hard as I probably could have.  In Bellingham I was also racing another 41 year old novice who was imitating Sam Willoughby, jumping doubles and manualing every roller like it was old hat.  At Bakerview, I came out strong racing against one other 41-45 Y/O and 2 36-40 Y/O novices by finishing 1st in MOTO #1 and transferring to the main.  Then in the main I wrecked (or was wrecked depending on your interpretation of the video) while in the lead on the 2nd straight away and finished the day at Skagit Valley Hospital ER getting two pins in my right femur.  So Rad Down is down and out for a while...hopefully to return for next season...
