Matt's dad here...

The first Minnesota state qualifier is this week.  We are looing forward to being back into the groove of the racing and seeing all of the friends we have made over the last few years.

I don't know about other parents, but we see a major difference in Matt's attitude during BMX racing, where he is more controlled and able to control himself better.  He does better in school, and gets along with us and his friends better.

This year, Matt was able to qualify for a state 1 plate, and a district 7 plate, which he is excited to race this year.  He is also going to start racing Cruiser class.  He raced Cruiser for the first time a week ago, and enjoyed it, but said his legs were a lot more tired.  We're hopoing this will help get his leg muscles more toned and able to keep up in some of the bigger races.

As I look ahead at the summer racing schedule, I see that we have events going on for most every weekend from the time school gets out until school starts again.  We are hoping to make a couple of the National races this year, as well as hitting most of the state qualiying races in Minnesota, and possibly a couple in neighboring states for the experience of racing other kids that he doesn't know as well.

Have a great season, everyone!
