Well it was a great year.  I met a lot of great people and also met the dirt a few times.  More about that later.

I returned to BMX after 11 years off.  I took this much time off to recover from a bad spill that resulted in surgery and pain.  11 years was a long time to recover but a lot also happened in my life to prolong my absence.  My wife was not happy that I hurt my self, but she supported me in my choice to go back to BMX.

I started back and within a few months felt I was getting back into my stride and becoming stronger and faster, learning the track and competing well for my age and skill.   Again the people were great, BMX allows you to see kids progress, yourself as well and you can just hang out with some like minded folks.  I had extra motivation to excel riding with a group of older riders and felt happy about my progression.

Then I crashed and hurt myself pretty bad- again.   broken leg number 2.

Here is it Jan 2018 and the leg is still not fixed.  The fracture healed but the ACL and Meniscus are still issues to be dealt with.  MRI was not uplifting, showed all the damage and has sunk my spirits of racing this year.

I am motivated to get back to BMX and just need to gear up for the pain of recovery and let time heal all wounds.

I am excited to see what the Washington state BMX crowd is like.  I went to the permanent indoor track a month ago and was excited to see the amount of racers just before Christmas, so I can only imagine the turn out in good weather.  Track was super small (900ish feet long) and very compact.  Winning there is all about  a good gate and holding your line. Turns were super steep and very tight.  Not for me right now, maybe one day.

The outdoor scene is very limited due to the climate and all the Darn rain!!!!!!!    something I have to get used to after sunny California.

more later

have a great season folks
