Well It's been a great first year so far.  I'm 10 months into my racing career and I'm learning alot.  Had alot of good times, a few bad times, but overall its been really fun.  I spent most the season tied for 1st place in the Washington State Series and the Northwest Gold Cup Series.  It was a hard fight with some really good riders.  I have to learn to stay more focused at times to be sure I'm paying attention to whats coming next during a race.  The State Finals was very close and came down to a tie breaker.  A new friend of mine came out with the overall win for the season and I came away with 2nd place in Washington State!!!  Thats really good for my first year...

The Gold Cup Series was even more crazy and came right down to the wire.  We went back and forth during the 3 day event.  My main competitor took the win on day one and I won on day 2.  The final day was it.  I needed a win to lock down the #1 plate.  I won the qualifier to get into the main event.  The gate dropped for the main but I didn't get the hole shot like I wanted.  We were dead even.  I put the power to the peddles and pulled out front down the first straight away.  I was so excited to have the lead and thinking of that #1 plate that I lost focus for a split second and bobbled the triple jump going into the first corner.  Thats all it took for me to lose the lead.  I tried to gather myself back up and get my head back in the race, but it was really hard to do.  I was really upset with myself and had to work through it.  I ended the main off the podium, but had still pulled in enough points to hold onto the #2 plate overall in the series.

So the State and Gold Cup series are now complete for 2021 and I hold the #2 plate for both.  We have just over 2 months left in the standard season.  As of now I am 2 wins away from becoming expert.  If I can do it before the end of the season it would just make the year even better.  Either way, my training will continue.  We will focus on what I need to improve, add to my power out of the gate and work on overall bike control.  So stay tuned for the final months of the 2021 season, and watch for me next year in the expert class.
