This year has been topsy turvy at the Richfield Park BMX track.  We began our season 7 weeks late due to the Covid-19 virus pandemic and shut downs of just about any activities that take place in each and every day.  As the track operator at Richfield Park BMX, it was a relief when the head of the Genesee County Parks gave us the go ahead to start our race season.  Beings that our original date for our SCR qualifier was scheduled in the second week of June, we were pressed to reschedule to Sunday August 2nd.  So, we made the best of it between that date.  We managed to get in 3 single point races, and 3 gate practices before Mother Nature put a damper on our event schedule.  Unlike any year before, we had 2 races rained out and 3 gate practice canceled also due to rain.  The real frustration came on the day of our rescheduled SCR Qualifier this past Sunday.  It began raining early in the morning around 2:00 am and never really let up unitl close to 6:00 pm the day of the SCR.   Once again, we were forced to push our SCR Qualifier forward two weeks to August 16th.  The frustration comes from knowing that you worked your behind off to get the track as dialed as it possibly could be, our concessions manager planning for a special day and menu,  holding out hope that the ensuing monsoon would stay south of our track.  It didn't happen and about the only satisfaction we could derive from calling the race was that the seal we had applied held up to the amount of water it had taken on.  Still smooth and ready for fast action once it dries from Mother Natures crying spree.

Plans are in the works to get several more coats of seal on the track surface once the skies clear up and the temps rise again.  If your around the Davison, Michigan area, stop out with your bikes and give the track a try.  We think you will enjoy one more top notch bmx track in Michigan.
