TRACK POINTS CHAMPIONSHIP
Every year, STEEL WHEELS celebrates the accomplishments of our local riders with an Awards Banquet that takes place following the end of the USABMX “points” season (December 15th)
To be eligible for track awards at Steel Wheels you must have raced in at least 24 local races or earned at least 1,000 local track points from January 1st - December 15th 2020; race at both the INDOOR and OUTDOOR races, and consider IG and STEEL WHEELS to be your "home' track.
Awards are given out for such categories as Most Improved, Novice, Inter, Expert, Girl award; youngest/oldest rider and top ten track champions. Track championships divided into two categories:
Top in each age group – (breaking the riders into age groups such as 7 & Under; 8-10 years old, etc…)
Top Ten Overall
Champions are decided based on points earned at LOCAL races – point values are given according to finish for each race and there is no proficiency distinction. Points are calculated by the volunteer efforts of Ron & Jeanne Zurek who weekly tabulate each riders point. Even a rider who does not make the main events gets rider points for the day. We post point totals as available.
Point values are: 1st 100 pts
2nd 90 pts
3rd 80 pts
4th 70 pts
5th 60 pts
6th 50 pts
7th 40 pts
8th 30 pts
DNQ 10 pts
Point values are doubled and tripled depending on the district point value of the race.
Any regular rider at Steel Wheels and Imagination Glen are included in the Track Points Championship…
it does not matter what district you are in.
