TULSA, OK – Omaha BMX congratulates all the Omaha area riders who participated and excelled at the recent Race of Champions (ROC) and Grand Nationals held in Tulsa, Oklahoma. More than 20 racers from the Omaha-Metro area joined thousands of riders from around the world to compete in races held November 23 – November 26.
“ROC and Grands are the biggest races of the year, its the pinnacle of our season. Its where the top amateur and pro racers from all over the world come to compete.” commented Emily Aveni, President of Omaha BMX. “These are the best of the best, who have competed all year long to earn a Number 1 plate. We are extremely proud of the Omaha racers who lined up to compete in Tulsa.”
One racer from Omaha, thirteen-year-old Hunter Lee placed first in his class for both the Race of Champions and during the Grand Nationals. Even more impressive, this is Hunter’s first year of competing in the fast- growing sport of BMX. For the second year in a row, a graduate of the Omaha New Racer’s League has taken the top spot at Grand Nationals.
In addition to Hunter, Omaha racers Levi and Garret Sawyer each advanced through qualifying rounds into Sunday’s Main Events. Levi finished 2nd while Garret took home a well-earned 7th place trophy.
“This past year we experienced a dramatic increase of interest in the BMX community. Our goal is to give local riders an opportunity to grow, compete locally and then show their skills at the national level. We believe 2024 will be the biggest year yet at Omaha BMX,” added Aveni
