If you were to look outside the window on Monday the day after our 2014 season opener you would have been sure that the start of the BMX season could not be further away. However, true to the craziness that is Central Virginia weather, one day sun and BMX and the next snow. With a little rain during the mains just to make it all a bit interesting.

The weather however would be a footnote in the story of the Richmond BMX 2014 Season Opener. The line for the bathroom was long (until Luck came to the rescue with a second option, LUCK TO THE RESCUE!!), the line for registration was even longer and concessions sold out of burgers and hotdogs TWICE! Racing on the track was FAST and intense as riders figured out what lines worked best over the new jumps. With all that, we had an amazing 38 MOTOS with riders coming from all over the state and beyond. With the help of our volunteers who make all this possible, it all went off without a hitch. Even as the rain started to fall just as mains got underway, everything went perfect.

Now, if someone could just do something about all this white stuff that is now covering the track so we can do this all again next week we would really appreciate that.

A big thanks to Eli who again took somewhere around a billion pictures and has shared them all with the world. Even some totally awesome 3-D pictures, grab those old blue/red 3-D glasses you had as a kid and prepare to duck!

Healing vibes out to Bobby Powell who took a nasty spill in the first round suffering a broken collarbone, very tough break friend, please get better soon.
