PRESS RELEASE

Anne Arundel County Welcomes Top BMX Racers for USA BMX East Coast Nationals

With the national championship within reach, BMX racers will battle for valuable points Oct. 9-11 at Chesapeake BMX in Severn during Stop No. 26 of the 2026 USA BMX National Series.

TULSA, Okla. (Oct. 05, 2026)—Severn will have a front-row seat to some of the country’s best BMX racing Oct. 9-11, as Chesapeake BMX hosts the 2026 USA BMX East Coast Nationals. Across three days, the track will be a study in controlled chaos: riders launching out of the gate, battling for every position and making split-second decisions that can mean the difference between the podium and the pack. For spectators, it’s an up-close look at the speed, skill and unmistakable community that make BMX racing so addictive.

The East Coast Nationals mark stop no.26 of the 2026 USA BMX National Series. The three-day BMX competition will be held at Chesapeake BMX, located in Severn-Danza Park at  726 Donaldson Ave in Severn. Races begin at 1:00 p.m. Friday, 9:30 a.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. Sunday.

This is what we’ve been waiting for! After the long hours, the hard work and everything it takes to host an East Coast National, there’s nothing better than finally sitting back and watching the BEST racers in the sport throw down on our track,” said Charles Ellis, co-track operator of Chesapeake BMX.

“The track is ready, the gates are ready and we’re ready – now it’s time to race,” said Tom Sinchek, co-track operator of Chesapeake BMX. “Chesapeake BMX, bring it!”

The road to a USA BMX National Championship is built one race weekend at a time. At the East Coast Nationals, riders from across the country will line up chasing valuable championship points and a place among the nation’s top-ranked athletes. With every gate drop, the pressure builds, a hard-fought pass or a finish at the front of the pack can make a difference as riders work toward the ultimate prize: a national title.

“We’re proud to welcome back the USA BMX East Coast Nationals,” said Kristen Pironis, CEO of Visit Annapolis & Anne Arundel County. “I remember attending this event for the first time and being struck by the energy, from the athletes competing at the highest level to the families and fans cheering them on. That spirit is what makes this event so special. Chesapeake BMX is a top 10 BMX facility in the nation, and we’re fortunate to have it right here in our destination. We look forward to hosting the East Coast Nationals again in 2028.”

About USA BMX

Established as the American Bicycle Association in 1977 and headquartered in Tulsa, Oklahoma, ABA is the nation’s largest cycling organization with more than 70,000 members with combined racing and freestyle events at more than 300 sanctioned BMX tracks across the United States and Canada. ABA empowers and elevates the early stages of bicycle development by creating opportunities through facility development, programs, and national events. As a result, ABA has developed a structured blueprint. A cyclist can progress from humble beginnings on a balance bike to becoming a BMX Olympian by establishing these roots.

Through STEAM, scholarships, freestyle amateur events, the national series, the Olympics and new facilities built across the United States, these four pillars under the USA BMX organization will impact young riders and families: USA BMX Foundation, USA BMX Freestyle, USA BMX Racing and ABA Ethos.
