PRESS RELEASE
USA BMX Gator Nationals Bring Championship-Caliber Racing to Oldsmar
With the season winding down, the nation’s top BMX racers will descend on Oldsmar BMX Oct. 23-25 to battle for crucial championship points at Stop No. 28 of the USA BMX National Series and Stop No. 9 of the USA BMX Pro Series.
TULSA, Okla. (Oct. 20, 2026)—With two stops remaining before the season’s finale, Oldsmar will become a proving ground for the nation’s top BMX racers Oct. 23-25 at the 2026 USA BMX Gator Nationals at Oldsmar BMX. The event combines a USA BMX National Series stop, a USA BMX Pro Series stop and a UCI Hors Class (HC) competition, bringing added stakes to a weekend of high-speed racing. With just one Pro Series stop remaining, riders will battle for critical points and positioning as they push toward the season’s finish.
The Gator Nationals mark stop no.28 of the 2026 USA BMX National Series and stop nine of the 2026 USA BMX Pro Series. The three-day BMX competition will be held at Oldsmar BMX at Oldsmar Sports Complex, 3120 Tampa Road in Oldsmar. Races begin at 2:30 p.m. Friday, 9:30 a.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. Sunday.
Pro racing at the Gator Nationals kicks off on Friday with a high-stakes UCI HC (Hors Class) event. The designation places the Gator Nationals among the higher-tier events on the international BMX racing calendar, awarding valuable UCI ranking points that help determine riders’ international standings and pave the way for the Olympic opportunity with their competitive results.
The USA BMX Pro Series continues on Saturday and Sunday as the proving ground for the sport’s top professional racers. A season-long test of skill and resilience, top BMX riders compete throughout the season for points towards the championship, it’s crunch time for gaining points in the 2026 ranking. Phoenix-based Olympian Cameron Wood moved into the top spot in points after a home race at the Fall Nationals this past weekend.
Heading into the Gator Nationals, Cameron Wood (720 pts), Molly Simpson (800 pts), and Jeff Upshaw (750 pts) pace the Men, Women, and Vet Pro divisions under the series scoring system. Kamren Larsen (710 pts) and Lauren Reynolds (720 pts) remain in hot pursuit of the top spots for 2026. USA BMX has awarded nearly $300,000 in total purse money this season with Molly Simpson leading the earnings with $15,765 in YTD earnings, fueled by a dominant 6 Answer BMX Holeshot bonuses.
“The return of the USA BMX Gator Nationals underscores St. Pete-Clearwater’s position as a destination that continues to attract top-tier sporting events,” said Caleb Peterson, Director of the St. Pete-Clearwater Sports Commission. “Hosting a national event of this caliber fuels our local economy and gives competing athletes and their friends and families from across the nation the perfect opportunity to experience our vibrant beach culture both on and off the track.”
While visiting Oldsmar, fans can enjoy the area’s unique blend of outdoor recreation and local attractions, including the scenic trails and waterfront views at R.E. About USA BMX
Established as the American Bicycle Association in 1977 and headquartered in Tulsa, Oklahoma, ABA is the nation’s largest cycling organization with more than 70,000 members with combined racing and freestyle events at more than 300 sanctioned BMX tracks across the United States and Canada. ABA empowers and elevates the early stages of bicycle development by creating opportunities through facility development, programs, and national events. As a result, ABA has developed a structured blueprint. A cyclist can progress from humble beginnings on a balance bike to becoming a BMX Olympian by establishing these roots.
Through STEAM, scholarships, freestyle amateur events, the national series, the Olympics and new facilities built across the United States, these four pillars under the USA BMX organization will impact young riders and families: USA BMX Foundation, USA BMX Freestyle, USA BMX Racing and ABA Ethos.
