Four months(March 2017) ago we decided to give into our middle sons persistent request and take him to the local BMX track to give it a shot. This was something he had been asking to do since shortly after moving to Sheppard AFB in November 2013, but we were never quite sure if the track was still up and running. A year later when I was able to contact someone about track times, the track practice and races clashed with football and soccer practices and games so it was once again put on the back burner. When March 2017 rolled around, we had no more excuses and he held us to our word, so we brought him out.

They say first impressions are everything...AND, they were right!! The track volunteers were so welcoming to our family, accommodating to our needs, and patient with our endless questions. We were hooked!! We knew this was more than just a free first practice, we would be coming back. Avion had a great time and we felt like we were where we should be.

Fast forward four months, Avion has completed his four state races and is practicing for state finals. He finally has his own BMX bike and is still so excited to be on the track, no matter the weather. We have gained an extended BMX family and they are so supportive, down to earth and amazing. I feel so blessed to be on this journey and I truly can't wait to see what it holds. We still have so much to learn (BMX lingo, bike modification, rules and regulations), but we are getting there.

So what does the near future hold...Well, Avion is having such a great time that his younger twin brothers have convinced us to let them register in September. So watch out WEECHITAH BMX, the Becker Racing team will be making an appearance soon.
