So, my almost 40-year-old, out of shape self decided I need to try something new. So, on June 2, 2018, I set a goal of racing in a BMX bike race by the end of July, 2018.  Goal #2 was not to break or fracture anything in said race. Goal #3 was to train a little bit every day until said race. 

I’m happy to announce that I accomplished all three goals by June 23rd…which was my first ever night of racing.  I did crash in that race, but I didn’t break anything…although, I probably did fracture something in my hand and maybe a rib, but since I just let it heal and didn’t get it checked out, that doesn’t really count as a fracture…we’ll just call it “hurt really bad”.  Good news though, I’m back at it and loving it.  I still have a lot to learn and plan on mostly riding for the fun of it…but, I do have a very competitive side to me…so I hope to get pretty good someday.
