Danny Ashbrook earns his first #1 title at the So Cal State Finals (Kearny BMX) 9/21/14. Not even 1 year on the bike yet, and he pulls off the #1 plate.  Also, finishing strong in the cruiser class cominyg home with the #5 plate.

It started out rough on Saturday. "I took my first practice lap on my cruiser and a kid went down fast in the 2nd turn right in front of me. I didn't have time to react and went over the bars. A little banged up but not injured... Thank God. I raced the Pre-Race in 36-40 Cruiser and came out with a 2nd place finish."

Sunday - "I was stoked to make my main in cruiser considering I had some heavy hitters in the 36-40 class. (Ben Hershkowitz, Corey Mitchell, Fred Topper, Scott Felt, Mike Brawner, Shawn Frack, Seth Hartgrave, James DeHaven, Eric Hawes) I was really focused on my 20" class because I was in the top spot with only one point separating me from 2nd place going into the finals, so I took it easy in my cruiser main to try to conserve my energy. It didn't work out the way I wanted it to... after I got the holeshot, I was passed in the 2nd straight by a beast named Paul Verratti. I ended up 2nd in the main, but luckily it was still good enough for the #1 plate."
