It was a really fun weekend in Michigan. First National I have been to since 2012 and it was great! Pre-race was exciting. I unclipped and was in last place, but then I put the pedal to the metal and fished my way through the pack At the end of the race I was awarded 1st, but when we went back Saturday they said I got 2nd place. Oh well, whatever, it was a lot of fun!! Saturday I couldn't wait to get on the track!! 22 riders in all, made it out of my moto with a first place spot, out of Semi's with a first place spot, only to be intentionally wrecked in the main. Now that I know what to expect, that won't happen again. Bad thing is the parent/coach who told the two kids to "crush the new kid and take him out" (me) ended up taking themselves out and weren't able to race Sunday. I hurt my knee really, really bad and had some road rash, but I got back on my bike and finished 6th. Sunday I was a little nervous because of wreckingthe day before, but I got myself together and made it through the motos first round, through the Semi's, and onto the Main. I was determined to win!!! If only I hadn't unclipped as soon as I got out of the gate.(Needless to say I now have new cleats!!) MAN was I mad!! I was way behind, but I got back on the gas, weaving my way through, and got 6th place, just a tires length from a 5th. Not too bad for all that was going against me and racing kids who race Nationals all the time. Just a local kid trying to make his mark. Can't wait until the next National!!
