As we're staring at the end of the SSA season, I'm suddenly confronted with this question.  Last weekend James raced in Sarasota on Friday night (win #17) & St. Cloud on Sunday (win #18).  This coming weekend, he could race in Sarasota on Friday &/or Orlando on Sunday.  Orlando is a SCR race...and triple points.  Next weekend is SSA Championships in St. Cloud (again).  The weekend after that is another SCR race in St. Augustine (double points) and then...on and on and on.

We should be going to all these races as 6 intermediate/6 expert before he turns 7 at the end of May and is suddenly in 7 expert.  We should go get all the points and do all that...but life is going on outside of BMX.  I love BMX and the racing and the friends and the time with my son and all that...but where is the line?

For me, I'm saying we do the SSA championship and then go back to our "regular" schedule.  We'll catch the SCR races that we can, but I can't pull my hair out over missing some.  Yeah, there's an edge to be gained by piling on the races now, but at what cost?  We're in the middle of buying a house & moving, his birthday is soon, school is out soon, Dad wants us to go to Indiana soon, Sava wants to go to Brazil soon, etc.  Maybe there is never a break?

I guess I'm just saying that the quest for "points" cannot be my all-encompassing driving force.  We can't be in every series and every race.  I'm OK with that...I think?!
