I received my first two wheel bicycle for Christmas of 1965. A Black Schwinn Typhoon.

My family moved from Santa Monica to Newhall Calif. in 1966. The guys that lived on my street all rode bikes. We roamed the streets on our bikes like one of first true street gangs. The Abdale street Blades. We had our own flag football team too.

Our bikes where all hand built from parts found at the swapmeet or wherever you could get them.

We made our own BMX track at a vacant house complete with a starting gate. With a little brother to throw the gate, We are Racing !. A painters hat was about all the protection we had back then. Concussions where common back then. If you wanted a shirt that said PUMA, you had to make it. Check it out, I made a fake gas tank with folded piece of plastic on the #93 bike.
