I started this journey back in '76.  Yes, I am super old!  Anyway, I have been on an extended vacation of sorts. I crashed and broke my collarbone 12 years back.  It shattered and I had to have surgery to get it put back together.  After many thousands of dollars in medical costs my wife put her foot down and said "The racing days are over, we cannot afford this!"

Time heals all wounds they say and so here I am, with her blessing of course (LOL), getting after it again.  For anyone who is readiing this, the old guys who have been doing this for years will understand.  It is part of us, it is in our souls so to speak.  We were part of the beginnings of this sport and it is up to us to show the young guns that you can keep doing this and having fun--evolving with sport and having a blast doing it.  Not everyone will become a phenom or a famous professional but that does not mean that you cannot go out every weekend and have a lot of fun, rekindling old friendships and starting new ones. We are dads, moms, grandads and grandmas--setting the example for the younger crowd.  We may be older, but that does not mean we have to be old.  We are still racing and that is what counts!!!

Until next time, keep the rubber side down and have fun!
