Several races throughout the season are designed to involve the Community of Cyclists in Sanctioned BMX Events. While we love all our members and their commitment to the sport, there are times when we like to SHARE THE FUN with others who are not able to commit. In the RACE EVENTS listed on this page, non-members, including former and FUTURE members, are able to sign up for the day with NO MEMBERSHIP COMMITMENT. The prices on these events vary depending on the theme and benefit they are designed to provide - SOME EVENTS are FREE!! At ALL EVENTS, Full (Annual) Members can earn District Points!!

Race for Life

It all started in 1981 when an avid 12 year old BMX racer from Michigan discovered he had Leukemia. Todd Kingsbury was his name, and like many BMXers, he had dreams of someday becoming a top pro in the sport. Unfortunately, this dreaded disease would keep Todd from fulfilling his dream.

When Todd`s friends and the American Bicycle Association learned of his diagnosis, it was decided that an organized effort should be made to help in Todd`s "Race for Life." The first ABA "Race for Life" events were formed that year, with over 130 tracks participating and raising funds for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society®.

Ever since, USABMX has held a series of "Race for Life" events nationwide to help in the fight to find a cure for blood-related cancers. There are awards given to top fund raisers which include t-shirts, jackets and trips to the USABMX Grand Nationals of BMX.

This is a Fundraising Event with Race Fees going toward the charitable cause, additional collections to the cause can earn prizes for the rider.

Bob Warnicke Scholarship Race

The Warnicke Scholarship Race was created to help fund The Bob Warnicke Memorial Scholarship Fund which assists students and their families in meeting the costs of undergraduate college education, trade school, etc. USA BMX/BMX Canada members who have a current USA BMX/BMX Canada membership or Track Operators/Officials who participate in BMX racing events sanctioned by USA BMX/BMX Canada are eligible to apply.

Bob passed away on Nov. 16, 1994, at the young age of 48 years old. Bob was well known for his leadership role and for his many efforts in promoting the sport. Bob's many contributions improved the sport and the image of BMX throughout the years. He will best be remembered for his instrumental role in bringing BMX to millions of viewers through the airing of the "Road to Glory Series" on ESPN2 and ESPN. More than anything else, Bob was a person who cared deeply about the sport of BMX. His dedication showed his commitment to the youth who benefited from his efforts.

The Scholarship Program preserves Bob Warnicke's legacy of love by contributing to the futures of deserving USA BMX / BMX Canada members in his name. For more information about the scholarship program.

This is a Fundraising Event with Race Fees going toward the scholarship.

Olympic Day

USA BMX has joined forces with the United States Olympic Committee

...and USA Cycling to offer a free day of BMX racing at participating BMX tracks around the United States in celebration of Olympic Day.

Olympic Day is a worldwide commemoration of Baron Pierre de Coubertin’s June 23, 1894, convening of the first International Olympic Committee (IOC) meeting at the Sorbonne in Paris, and the founding of the Modern Olympic Games. National Olympic Committees (NOCs) throughout the world will also participate in the international celebration, with each Olympic Committee sending Olympic Day greetings to participating nations.

The goal of Olympic Day is to promote the Olympic values and participation in sport across the globe regardless of age, gender or athletic ability.

This is a FREE RACE for Non-members, VMP BMX also chooses to provide this as a FREE RACE for current and RENEWING Members.
